The process
How It Works
Simple on your end. Careful on ours.
- 1
Tell us about the books
Submit photographs, an approximate number of books, the subjects, the age of the collection, and where it's located. Rough answers are perfectly fine.
- 2
We review the collection
We determine whether it appears to be an ordinary collection, a potentially valuable collection, or something we're unable to accept.
- 3
We arrange transfer or consignment
Ordinary collections generally transfer to us outright. Valuable collections may be handled under a consignment agreement, with terms set before anything is sold.
- 4
The books find their next destination
Books may enter our reference collection, be resold to readers, grouped into subject collections, donated, or responsibly recycled when they have no practical reuse.

An honest note
We can't promise every book will sell.
Some books find buyers in a week. Some take years. Some never do, even good ones. Taking a collection means taking responsibility for sorting it thoughtfully — not guaranteeing a particular outcome for each volume.
You can read more about where books go on What Happens to the Books, and how ownership and payment work in our Collection Policy.
Books are meant to have more than one life.
Send a few photographs. We'll take it from there.
